Interesting view held by many people. Technology could eventually be used in the ways he talks about. Think RFID tags and their lack of any really substantial legislation or airport watch lists without much transparency in how people are placed on them. Stephen King makes an interesting point about technology and our love of it in The Stand with how all the technophiles seemed to gravitate to Vegas and the man in black.

This is of course only one possible future. Our job as citizens is to be educated on what is going on around us and ensure that as technology evolves, it is monitored and applied in ways that benefit humanity rather than allow its use to coral, control, and coerce the masses.

Education is power, and everyone needs more of it.
