RoadTwip: Nashville

RoadTwip: St. Louis

A flavorful visit – this city is where we met up with local food (STLBites.com) and beer (STLHops.com) bloggers at a farmer’s market that was an organic localvore’s heaven. Also, Reem Abeidoh took us out for Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, which completely ruined ice cream for us forever.

RoadTwip: Kansas City

This is where the Brightkite magic really made it all happen! A quick lunchtime stop for burnt ends at Arthur Bryant’s Barbecue turned into video interviews and an afternoon of coworking at Scooter’s downtown.

RoadTwip: BIGOmaha

This was a predetermined high point of the trip, which meant lots of work and not too many photos. The music just keeps playing on, however, in the ReadWriteWeb coverage of the show.

RoadTwip: Toledo

This was the city that touched my heart the most, and I can’t wait to go back. We’ll never forget all the awesomesauce that the Toledo crew poured all over us. Many thanks to Damian, Mark, Josh, Gene, and the rest. We had an amazing meetup with a whole crew of local folks, and Dingman and I got to have lunch at Tony Packo’s the next day. Plus, this was the town where the RoadTwip gang made the news:

This is where we met up with @Sloane and @OzSultan. At this juncture, I was behind on ReadWriteWeb work and didn’t have much time to play/screw around, there are no photos from me for this part of the ‘Twip. All I have are a couple highly suspect videos that just scream “shenanigans!”

While we were here, we got to hook up with the amazing folks at Remarkable Wit, a local venture technology firm.

Founder Marcus Whitney gave me a great ReadWriteWeb interview (link coming soon!), and the company’s social marketing guru expert badass professional rockstar, Katy Kirby, talked to me a little bit about the local tech scene:

And as Marcus later noted over tea, the music, healthcare, and publishing industries that are so strong in Nashville are three industries struggling the most with tech adoption – what better place to start bolstering a local scene?

So many thanks to all our new Nashville peeps! In no particular order, we loved seeing @MarcusWhitney, @KateO, @miiacom, @katsuzak, @thatscottguy, and everyone else whose name or Twitter handle I didn’t catch or remember. Honestly, we loved being here and hanging out with you, and we can’t wait to come back!

KurtyD and I met the delightful Dave Delaney, who regaled us with tales of Nashville tech-hood over plates of pulled pork. After lunch, we chatted a bit about how he helped make the local tech scene more cohesive and what Nashville’s got in store for the future:

Our first official RoadTwip gathering takes place tonight, Nashville – let’s wake up the neighborhood!

From 5:oo-7:00 p.m., we’re hitting up the Nashville Technology Council’s Margarita Mixer (Cinco de Mayo, w00t!). That event is $10 for nonmembers and $5 for members, and it sounds like a great networking opportunity for you local folks!

Then, at 7:30 p.m., we’re heading to Sambuca for our very own RoadTwip Meetup!
